These were the original photos taken by a member of my group Natalie Barker after discussing what photos we would like her to take of our main actor to support our target audience, she is a photography student and had the highest quality camera available so this proved most effective. As you can see our main ideas were to use Jo or the Rabbit mask as the main image on our advertisement. However the photos taken of Jo (our main character) were taken as work for another subject so we cannot use these as our final products. My favourite original image is the first mid shot of Jo, I like the flower in her hair as it supports our surreal ideas and I think having our main actor would persuade our target audience as they are of similar age i.e students; therefore we could still use Jo on our advertisement but we would need to arrange another day to take several photographs if this disturbs our time management we will choose the rabbit mask as our main image.

I then edited these original shots using Photoshop as this would achieve professional results. Testing my ideas on Photoshop was effective so I could show my group where we could compare each others and see which one was our favourite.
My edited advertisement tests:

I used 'Algerian' as I thought this supported our surreal theme and our indie/alternative genre. I like that the name of the DigiPack 'UFO' has the biggest font as I would want consumers to remember this the most. I chose a white colour scheme as it supports my DigiPack drafts and consumers would recognise each product. I edited the rabbit mask colour from white as I felt this was too plain, I used a 'pattern' fill effect which supports the grassy background and overall abstract theme.

For this test I edited the background of the original to a bright purple/pink, I felt this vibrancy would persuade consumers immediately, it would also attract students our target audience as it is a bold youthful colour. I put the critic by the Guardian using a 'rise' effect so the font would 'wave' across the advertisement supporting our genre of music e.g indie/pop. I like the layout of this design and feel placing the title of both the DigiPack and the artist vertically is inventive and doesn't overcrowd the image.

This is my favourite advertisement test as it's simple but effective. I started off by lightening the image in Photoshop this made Jo's hair and eyes stand out against the dark black background, I then chose my font 'Algerain' as this was my favourite out of my research because it reflects abstract ideas. I then chose a white colour scheme to support the DigiPack and white flower in her hair, however after using different colours I found black and white was really effective for attracting the reader but reinforces our surreal approach and indie genre. Displaying the artists myspace address informs the consumer. Finally I uses a 'wave' effect to make the font of the artist flow across the image reinforcing our interesting theme.
Here is an example of a member of groups advertisement test - Emily, comparing her test do mine proved effective increasing ideas , ensuring we could characterise all members of our groups ideas and have the best advertisement possible.

I think this is effective as it grabs your attention but also supports our 'indie' genre of music through the 'vintage' sharp look edited in Photoshop. The font is effective and similar to my example as it persuades a 'indie/alternative' target audience. I like the overall image as it supports our DigiPack. Although I would increase the size of the rabbit as in places this advertisement looks slightly plain, I also would use different colour instead of purple for the 'UFO' title as I think it clashes against the green, I would also choose another part of the advertisement to have it's colour as it looks slightly out of place as the only colour not white or green.
I wanted to produce some test shots using props, however our main actor (J0) wasn't available suddenly on the date I'd arranged to take photos and it would interrupt my time management if we scheduled a different day. Therefore I took these test shots using another person who was available.
Here are the shots I edited below:

I like this image , taking the photo at a high angle using my digital camera produced an abstract effect. I then used several roses as props placing them around the actor, I think this was effective as it supports our surreal theme but adds more intrigue to the advertisement than just having the actor without any props. I edited the image in Photoshop where I changed the 'hue' and 'saturation' of the colours, this made the image more vibrant and allowed the dress to stand out against the roses. I used the same typography as my other tests above however on the 'UFO' I created an 'arch' effect enabling the text to flow over the image supporting our indie/alternative genre.

After taking this photo at a low angle using my digital camera I had to crop and edit the background in Photoshop so it was plain black and didn't have any unwanted images in the background. I then changed the colour pixels producing a 'colour sketch' effect, this made the image bold and persuasive against the dark background. For the text I used the same font as above i.e. 'Algerain' except I changed the layout and size. For example for 'POPPY AND THE JEZEBELS' I decreased it's size so the name of the DigiPack 'UFO' would stand out and I changed it's layout to diagonally so it contrasted against the other texts and the vertical image, this made the text more eye catching. Overall this is one of my favourite tests as I feel it's colour scheme would support our surreal ideas and indie/alternative genre, it would also appeal to our target audience as students would be attracted to the interesting props and overall distinctive design.

I don't particularly think this design is effective as it's very simple and plain and wouldn't attract the consumer as much, so I'd advise my group against this design. I edited the original image in Photoshop again using the same font only only increasing the size of 'UFO' so it's appealing, the image is effective with the props however I don't feel this design supports our surreal ideas and doesn't target the indie/alternative genre of music as it is too simplistic.
